Opening the event, RISS Director Mikhail Fradkov stressed that the development of the People's Republic of China has an increasing impact on the whole world now. China is a strategic partner of Russia, and therefore, studying its domestic agenda is an integral part of building friendly and constructive bilateral relations. In this context, the review of the results of the "two sessions" and generally the features of the Chinese state apparatus during this period allows the expert community to better understand the current state and prospects of China's domestic and foreign policy.
The reports at the round table were presented by the Chief Adviser to Director K.Kokarev and RISS experts N.Gribova, I.Frolova, I.Komissina, A.Gubin, E.Rumyantsev, and G.Sizov. The discussions focused on the importance of adoption of the 14th plan of social and economic development of China (2021 to 2025) and the long-term development goals of the People's Republic of China until 2035, as this phase opens a new page in the state, economic and technological development of the country. It was noted that the Chinese leadership intends to place special emphasis on achieving technological self-sufficiency, expanding the economy of domestic consumption, increasing the prosperity of the citizens and solving environmental problems in the current five-year plan.
The attendants also discussed the issues of legal and political and ideological development, also in the context of the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party celebrated this year and preparations for the next 20th Congress of the National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (2022) at the round table.
