On November 30th, the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies held a round table to discuss «The crisis of Western political science as a factor in the international relations system decline». The meeting gathered Deputy Head of the Department of international relations and integration processes at Lomonosov Moscow State University, P.A. Tsygankov, Head of World Political Processes Department at MGIMO, M.M. Lebedeva, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Political Philosophy at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, L.N. Sidorova, Senior Advisor at the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, M.V. Novoselov, and RISS experts.
The participants noted that certain crisis symptoms of Western political science have become evident. Moreover, mythologemes more often substitute objective reality and foreign researchers have to write their works following opportunistic and ideological guidelines.
The participants concluded that further study of Western political science thought is needed, including through working meetings to prepare joint publications and research materials.
