The Russian Institute of Strategic Studies held a round-table on the «Foreign policy priorities for the new German government» on January 28th. The event was attended by the Head of the FRG Department of the Third European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry S.V. Babkin, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Head of Center for German studies V.B. Belov, Honorary Professor of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia L.N. Klepatsky, Researcher of the Sector of Political Problems of the Department of European Political Studies IMEMO RAS M.V. Khorolskaya, Researcher of the European Studies Institute of the MGIMO University A.P. Sokolov and RISS experts as well.
The participants discussed the approach of Germany′s new Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Russia, the prospects for transatlantic relations under the new government, as well as the role of Central and Eastern European countries in Germany's foreign policy.
