The Russian Institute for Strategic Studies held a round table on the «European Union growing influence in the post-Soviet space illustrated by the case of the Eastern Partnership program» on March 29th. The event was attended by senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.A. Balakin and I.N. Kopyrin, Professor of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs L.N. Klepatsky, Head of the Center for Belarusian Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences N.M. Mezhevich, Head of Sector of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies, IMEMO RAS E.M. Kuzmina, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Russia, MGIMO O.V. Shishkina, and RISS experts.
During the discussion, the participants considered the negative consequences of the EU Eastern Partnership program in the post-Soviet space. The need to form a new mutually beneficial system of regional cooperation given the obvious crisis in the eastern policy of Brussels was also noted.
