RISS holds a meeting with Kurdistan representatives

On September 11, 2015 Riss executives held a meeting with representatives of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNC). Kurdish delegation included Chairman of the International Union of Kurdish Public Associations Merab Shamoev, Kurdistan National Congress representative in the Russian Federation Selahattin Chanavar and Chairman of the Council of the Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of Kurds of the Russian Federation Farkhat Patiev.

The meeting members discussed issues on situation in the Middle East. Kurdistan representatives expressed their concern about crisis in Syria and Iraq, expasion of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in these territories, as well as terror, which impacts Kudish people as well. Besides, the members of the delegation mentioned humanitarian crisis, connected with mass emigration of Syrian population to the EU countries, and the reasons of the crisis, which among others include Turkish policy. Kurdistan representatives sharply criticized the policy of official Ankara. According to KNC, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have been implementing anti-Kurdish policy in recent months, that leads to extra tension both within the Middle East region and in his own country. 

KNC representatives told of importance to maintain Syria's territorial integrity and highly praised Russian steps on resolving the conflict. At the end of the meeting representatives from Kurdistan offered to organize an international conference under the aegis of RISS on the Middle East crisis and "Kurdish factor" in counteraction against ISIL.
