RISS expert spoke at a scientific conference in Seoul

Conference "Development of Free Economic Zones (FEZ) in Russia and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Russia" was held in Seoul on February 10, 2017.

It was organized on the initiative of the Center for Eurasian Studies of Hanyang University and Korea Institute for International Economic Policy. Senior research worker of the Centre for Asia and the Middle East Vladimir Svedentsov made a report "Development of the Priority Development Areas (the PDAs) and the Free Ports оf Vladivostok (FPV) in Russian Far East." The conference raised the issue of the problematic agenda of bilateral cooperation.

Korean scientists have noted some differences in the process of creation of FEZ in Korea and Russia and suggested ways of increasing efficiency of functioning of FEZ in Russia to attract foreign investment. A significant role in deepening of intra-regional cooperation in Northeast Asia is given to initiatives of the Russian government on development of the Far East and Transbaikalia.

In the course of discussion, the parties have identified a number of important aspects that must be considered when implementing the full participation of Russia and Korea in integration processes.
