SPIEF welcomes guests again

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is a very representative event that influences on Russia's and world economy positively, RISS expert Mikhail Belyaev underscored. This year, the forum discusses issues related to climate change, dynamic economic development, and inequality between and within countries. The event will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. "China has already emerged as a leader in world politics and economy. It is impossible to solve international problems without Beijin," the analyst said.

RISS expert recalled that SPIEF was acknowledged now on par with Davos Forum. But the difference between these two economic forums is very significant. First of all, in the number of countries and guests participating in the event. The St. Petersburg Forum (17,000 participants) is significantly larger than the Davos Forum (3,000 participants). At the same time, SPIEF is a prestigious business platform where major transactions may be performed. A total of 550 agreements worth more than 2 trillion rubles have been signed at SPIEF 2018.

RISS expert drew attention to the fact that this year the forum would focus on the space economics. This topic is becoming significant in the light of the Chinese project "One belt, one road". A lot of attention will be paid to youth entrepreneurship. In addition, the forum will discuss the industrial diversification, import substitution, development of small and medium-sized businesses. According to M.Belyaev, business workouts and investment fairs planned at SPIEF also would be very fruitful.
