The Indian delegation consisted of Head of the Secretariat Department of the Cabinet of Ministers Bhargav Mitra, Deputy Director of the Secretariat of the National Security Council Baidia Bikash Bazu, Adviser of the Embassy of India in Moscow Yodzhna Patel and other employees of the embassy.
The meeting of RISS Director M. Fradkov with A. Gupta and members of the delegation was held. Deputy Director V.D. Milovidov and Assistant Director for International Relations A. Dudar attended the meeting too. During the meeting held in the environment of mutual understanding and meaningful dialog lying outside the frameworks of the recorded conversation, international and regional security issues were addressed, perspectives of interaction of Russian and Indian experts were planned on key issues of the world policy and economy.
After the delegation reception by the RISS Director, a seminar was held with the participation of leading experts of the institute. A. Gupta presented main lines of foreign policy of India, as well as top-priority areas of the Russian-Indian cooperation. Questions of counter-terrorism, the situation in Afghanistan, the climate change, military and technical cooperation were emphasized among prospective lines at the seminar. One of the topics that the Indian party showed special interest for became the development of the international cooperation in Arctic. A. Gupta informed about his participation in the International Arctic Forum in Arkhangelsk on March 29-30, 2017 and noted the interest in further development of cooperation in this topic.
Comments of experts were expressed regarding Chinese-Indian relations, the situation in the Middle East. A. Gupta focused attention on the necessity of holding joint studies in the sphere of security, coordination of scientific activity of analytical centers of two countries in main aspects being of mutual interest.
