The President of South Ossetia paid special attention to Russia’s historic role in the fate of South Ossetia in the post-Soviet period. South Ossetian President expressed confidence that the events of 2008 have had a significant impact on the growth of the international prestige of Russia and strengthened its geopolitical position in the Caucasus. Moscow regained the lead as the main foreign policy player in the region.

Rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev, in turn, noted that the presence of Russia in South Ossetia helped to restore the military-political balance of power in the South Caucasus. Vadim Tedeev positively assessed the development of cooperation between RISS and the South Ossetian State University, noting that the leadership of the Republic pays special attention to all joint projects. V. Tedeev is in favour of expanding cooperation in the sphere of socio-economic and political studies. Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation Z. Gassiev also participated in the meeting.

L. Tibilov expressed special gratitude to L. Reshetnikov and RISS for the great attention given to the Republic of South Ossetia in the preparation of professional political scientists.
